  • GAT (General Ability Test): Includes English, GK, logical reasoning, and quantitative aptitude.
Each NIFT sample paper is created based on the updated 2025 syllabus and latest question trends to help students understand the exam structure and difficulty level.
6. What type of questions are asked in NIFT?

The NIFT entrance exam includes the GAT (General Ability Test), CAT (Creative Ability Test), and for shortlisted candidates, a Situation Test. The GAT tests your quantitative ability, English comprehension, analytical skills, general knowledge, and case studies. The CAT focuses on creativity, drawing, design ability, and observation skills. The Situation Test evaluates your material handling and 3D model-making skills. At SILICA Institute, students are trained across all these areas with structured modules and guided creative assignments to ensure holistic preparation.

7. What do NIFT sample papers include?

NIFT sample papers are designed to closely match the actual NIFT exam pattern, helping students understand the structure and difficulty level of each test. These papers typically include the following sections:

  • Creative Ability Test (CAT):
For B.Des and M.Des programs, this section evaluates a candidate’s creativity, imagination, and design sense. CAT sample papers often feature drawing-based or visual problem-solving questions that require original and artistic responses.

  • General Ability Test (GAT):
A mandatory section for all UG and PG programs, the GAT measures aptitude in areas such as quantitative and analytical reasoning, communication ability, English comprehension, and general knowledge.

  • Situation Test (B.Des only):
Conducted after the written exam, this hands-on practical test assesses a candidate’s ability to create a 3D model using provided materials. Some sample papers include example tasks, material lists, and guidelines to help students understand how to approach Situation Test challenges.

8. When and how should I use NIFT sample papers?

Start solving sample papers at least 3–4 months before the exam.

Follow this approach:

Begin with one paper per week to build familiarity.
Gradually increase to two papers per week closer to the exam.
Always attempt in timed conditions (like the real exam).
Review your mistakes, note weak areas, and improve before the next paper.

Practicing regularly builds speed, confidence, and creative thinking, which are crucial for cracking NIFT.

9. What is NIFT GAT?

NIFT GAT (General Ability Test) is an entrance exam for admission to undergraduate courses like B.Des & B.FTech at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). It assesses candidates’ skills in areas such as quantitative ability, communication ability, analytical ability, and general knowledge.

10. What is the NIFT Situation Test?

The NIFT Situation Test is the second stage of the NIFT admission process, held after the written exam. In this test, shortlisted students are given a design problem and must create a 3D model using provided materials (like paper, clay, wire, etc.) within a limited time. It evaluates your creativity, originality, material handling, and presentation skills.

SILICA provides NIFT Situation Test sample papers and model tasks to help students prepare effectively.
